Keyword Research Step by Step

Performing keyword research does not need to be a mystery. Many people are intimidated by the process, but once you have a simple understanding it will become like second nature to you. Follow this guide, and you’ll be well on your way to ranking highly for your desired search terms!

The first thing you need to do is choose a niche. Perhaps you already have one in mind. Ensure your niche is full of people who are actively spending money. A sure bet is always one where people are spending money to try and solve a problem they have. Be sure this problem is desperate, and the chances are very good that you can make some great commissions in this niche!

After you have chosen your broader niche, it’s time to find the keywords you want to rank for. At first, you may want to focus on just a few keywords. There are both free and paid tools you can use in order to do this. One free tool is the Google Adwords keyword tool. You’ll type in your niche or a main keyword, and you will get several suggestions back. Along with these suggestions, you will also see monthly search counts for each term.

As you looking at the search counts, be sure you examine how many advertisers are bidding on a particular term. This information is provided by Google as well. You can also analyze the competition for each terms to see how quickly and easily you’ll be able to rank. Simply enter in the keyword into the Google search bar surrounded by quotes for them. This will give you an idea of how many webpages on the Internet use the exact search term.

Of course, as you become more advanced, you’ll want to use more advanced tools. They will do more in-depth competition analysis for you, as well as an analysis of profitability. Figuring out whether each term will be profitable is a huge step! You don’t want to spend a lot of time and money trying to rank for a particular term if it will not have great returns for you.

Far too many people make the mistake of not using the right tools in order to do their keyword research. Other people spend too much time focusing on the wrong keywords. It’s time for you to step it up and to ensure that you know exactly how to do keyword research step by step.
