Two Google Adsense team members, Mel Ann and Tim, put together a training video (below) to help us optimize our adsense earnings. While some of it is fairly simple to more experienced webmasters, there are a few useful strategies and tips they discuss.

The first major tip is: CREATE CHANNELS

Most people do not create channels to track their adsense earning. Instead, they simply go straight to getting the html code to paste onto their site and ignore the adsense option to create a channel for tracking purposes. What I do is create a channel for every site that I have, and I break in down into sidebar, header, footer, and intext channels. That way, I know exactly which ads are working, and which one’s are not. If you want to optimize…track, track, track.

The second major tip is: BLEND YOUR ADSENSE ADS

If you look at my site at www.networkonlinesecrets.com you will see that my adsense background is blended, meaning that the background color of the ad is the same color background that it is displayed on - white. Therefore, if my website or blog background color was “grey,” I would use the same background color code for “grey” with my adsense ad.

Most people think that it is best for the ads to stick out with a different background color. However, this is simply not the best strategy if you want to maximize your adsense earning. Research and testing has shown that visitors are much more likely to click on a adsense ad when it is blended within the background of your site, and, blended within the content of your site.

Here is the video that I was talking about. Enjoy!
